Long Run: Lake Barrine

February 11 @ 6:00 am - 8:00 am AEST

This is our once-regular Lake Barrine long run, consisting of 5km loops around this beautiful Crater lake. Ample parking available, just exit the highway at the turnoff for the lake, and continue along the entrance road until you reach parking area. Toilets next to the parking area. Meet at the water-level trailhead and sign in to the attendance register

Pram rating: tough to rate, as a rugged, big-wheeled pram can get around this loop, however if a tree has come down then be ready to lift and carry your chariot of fire in places. Terrain rating is what really dictates your time with a pram here; if you have a protective screen that attaches to the front face of the pram this would be wise to use to avoid waitawhile invading into your child’s personal space. Human-drawn (Lauren R) prams probably a no-go due to tight turns.

Terrain: wooden boardwalks (can be slippery early in the morning, especially during or after any rain), loose surfaces, roots, some tight/sharp corners, waitawhile may be present, low-hanging branches sometimes present, fallen trees/logs/tree debris sometimes present. Sealed road surface linking loops via the car park. Trail shoes highly recommended.

Altitude: Easy. Some small rises (or descents if going the opposite direction).

Join us for a swim (fun to do in Summer, brave to do in Winter), a coffee/tea/fruit juice/cup of water, and/or breakfast at Gillies cafe. Because this is not a bbq breakfast long run, no gold coin contribution required.
