April 2021 Editor’s Note

The Tablelands really shines at this time of year as we emerge from the wet season into a sunny, green paradise. The trails begin to dry out, the march flies go away, and the creeks and waterfalls continue to flow beautifully. Aside from the beauty, the other thing that really attracted us to the Tablelands was the community spirit which continues to thrive. ECHO is opening a new centre in Malanda (p7) and the Atherton RSL is continuing to offer support including ANZAC Day celebrations (p11). These are just two examples of the many organisations and community groups that make the Tablelands so special. If you have a community group you would like to see featured, please contact us with your activities and events so we can spread the word to the larger community.
We have a couple of new contributors this issue including Leah from Off Camber with some excellent mountain biking trail details (p4), and Tatiana from Alchemilla Herbals with an interesting health article on motherwort (p16). We also have a new recipe contributor – Australian Superfoods NQ who sell chia seeds grown in our very own Mareeba.
We hope you enjoy this issue of What’s On.
