April 2019 Editor’s Note

This month’s issue is full of beautiful pictures that would inspire anyone to get out there and enjoy all that the Atherton Tablelands has to offer.

Our top pick offers a beautiful insight into Lake Barrine family history with a heartfelt story from fourth generation caretaker Nalita Curry. There are many ways to enjoy the lake, from sitting in the tea house to getting out there and running laps with Red Earth Running Group.

Many shop owners are reporting to me that these past few months have been the most difficult time that they’ve seen for years. You can individually make a difference by shopping local. Check out the new design of the shop local section this month and see what shop owners are most excited about in their stores.

The Tales of the Tablelands offers a unique view on ANZAC day from the younger generation. Finally, with the wet season coming towards its end, the events calendar is full this month. Mark your calendar off for the first weekend in May and head to the Historic Village for Pioneer Weekend which is always a great time.
